Member Center Update

Reading, ‘Riting, Risk Management

The Member Center offers a variety of education for credit unions and their boards.

Opinions you can rely on—and respond to
Throughout the week, experts Dwight Johnston, Kevin Lytle, Amy Rapp and Cindy Shipps will keep you informed on the economy, the markets, operational issues, the pulse of our industry and on ways to stay ahead of the challenges that face it. And if you ever miss a commentary, you can find it in the archive anytime. You can also submit your own comments or questions—anonymously if you wish—and you’ll be guaranteed a response.

Credit union news gathered for you
All the news you’ll ever need is brought straight to your desktop via the Member Center’s Executive or Invest views. Every day, your Member Center home page displays a new Featured Story on a topic of interest. The latest CU News is also brought to you from all the most popular sources via live RSS feeds. In fact, you’ll never have to scour multiple news sources again. Throughout the day, the Member Center pulls together the most relevant news from more than 4,000 sources and groups them into convenient categories—all accessible from your Member Center home page.

If you wish to link directly to industry sites, such as CUES, CUNA, Credit Union Times, creditunions.com—and even other top financial sites outside the credit union industry (MSN Money, Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg.com, etc.) you can access them from the Links tab at the top of your home page.

Online ALM training
WesCorp’s Online ALM Training is accessible directly from the Member Center Executive or Invest home page. This is online ALM training, in your own office, according to your schedule. Offered in conjunction with financial training leader Sheshunoff, this course is designed specifically with credit unions in mind. You can train a number of staff and board directors, who may choose from more than 25 courses covering all the major ALM topics, including the economy and interest rates, ALM fundamentals, interest rate risk management, the investment portfolio, derivatives, and preparing for NCUA exams/reviews. Simply click on Take the tour for a brief overview, or on Log-in for more information and sign-up instructions.

Convenient resources
In the middle of the Member Center’s Executive and Invest home pages you’ll find a blue bar, from which you can access all kinds of WesCorp educational and information resources such as Dwight Johnston’s weekly economic On Deck podcast, or WesCorp’s entire archive of webcast programs on a variety of topics from liquidity strategy to credit union technology. You can link directly to these without having to enter another log-in ID or password, and they’ve been conveniently arranged for you by topic and series. There’s also the entire archive of InsideRISK magazine.

Industrywide calendar
Look to the credit union IndustryWIDE Calendar for events, seminars, training sessions and conferences throughout the CU industry through 2009. Plan your year well in advance; click on an event for more specific details, send yourself reminders, and even save the date to the Microsoft Outlook calendar on your computer.
