Meridian Trust FCU helps Operation Best Wishes kick off a fifth national tour
Operation Best Wishes, the annual holiday program that sees military families tap the webcast resources of Overland Studios to send special Web greetings to their deployed loved ones, marked the start of its fifth national tour
on Friday, October 24, courtesy of Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union. The Cheyenne, Wyoming-based financial cooperative was the first of among 12 military-affiliated credit unions located throughout the country that are scheduled to host the award-winning program through New Year’s Day.
Operation Best Wishes, offered on behalf of America's credit unions, sets up a mobile webcast studio where spouses and family members are given access to a complimentary Web recording session of up to 10 minutes. The greetings are webcast LIVE on the Internet using a secured access channel, in addition to being recorded and posted to the Operation Best Wishes Web site. Military stationed abroad can either view the webcast LIVE, or as a recorded archive at a later time and as often as they wish.
“This year’s tour will visit a few old friends who served as our host in the past as well as travel to credit unions in parts of the country where we haven’t gone before,” reported Walt Laskos, WesCorp Public Relations Director and one of the program organizers. “From Camp Pendleton to Barksdale Air Force Base and Fort Hood, just to name a few, we’re anticipating that we will complete more than 80 hours of recording sessions during this national tour; that’s 80 hours of uniting loved ones courtesy of America’s credit unions.”
Operation Best Wishes is sponsored through a partnership of the Defense Credit Union Council, Overland Studios and the member credit unions of WesCorp.
Rickards Named new Senior Director, Compensation and Benefits
Suzanne Rickards has joined WesCorp as our Senior Director of
Compensation and Benefits. In her most recent role, she was the Director of
Benefits for the United States and Canada at Avery Denison in Pasadena, Calif.
Suzanne has worked in different types of financial institutions as well as with
retail based companies. Suzanne managed compensation for both Bank of the West
and Home Savings of America.
Supporting CIF
WesCorp is pleased to play a part in giving back to the credit union community by offering Community Investment Fund (CIF) investments. Credit unions can open a CIF account at WesCorp—either a certificate or a share account—and the dividends from the CIF account are split with half going back to the credit union and the other half going to the National Credit Union Foundation, and also to the state league for that investing credit union.
