Families rule in Operation Best Wishes
The 2008 U.S. tour of Operation Best Wishes (OBW) kicks off a few days before Halloween, marking the fifth consecutive year that the program will be offered to military families on behalf of America’s credit unions. Again this year, WesCorp will team up with the Defense Credit Union Council to produce the event and promote it among military personnel throughout the country.
Operation Best Wishes is a program giving military families an opportunity to webcast personal greetings to loved ones deployed overseas during the holiday season. Loved ones can access the webcast “live” and respond via instant text messaging, or they can access the archived message from a specially designed Web site, www.operationbestwishes.com.
This year, the OBW campaign will begin on October 24 at Meridian Trust Credit Union in Cheyenne, Wyo. The OBW crew will host one full day of webcasting sessions, and then take its mobile studio to Ellsworth Air Force Base to host another day of family webcasts at Sentinel Federal Credit Union in Rapid City, S.D.
In November, the OBW team heads to AmeriCU Credit Union in Watertown, N.Y., Navy Federal Credit Union in New London, Conn., Vystar Credit Union in Jacksonville, Fla., GeoVista Federal Credit Union in Hinesville, Ga., and America's Credit Union in Fort Lewis, Wash.
In December, OBW visits include Pacific Marine Credit Union in Camp Pendleton, Calif., Barksdale Federal Credit Union in Leesville, La., Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Fort Hood, Texas, Travis Credit Union in Vacaville, Calif., and Visterra Credit Union in Moreno Valley, Calif.
Since its debut in 2004, OBW has seen thousands of family members take advantage of this free offering through a credit union hosting the event. OBW sets up a mobile webcast studio at the credit union where the holiday greetings are recorded.
WesCorp Ranks 32nd on 2008 InformationWeek 500
InformationWeek magazine, a leading technology publication that covers innovations in the IT marketplace, recently ranked WesCorp 32nd on its 2008 InformationWeek 500.
“For 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year’s winners, and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation.”
InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing, now in its 20th year, and has tracked the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
